From The Indianapolis Star, Wednesday, February 26, 1913: The 23rd Infantry Regiment, garrisoned at Ft. Harrison, left this morning in a special train for Texas City in accordance with orders received Monday evening by Col. Edwin P. Glenn. The regiment was called out with the rest of the 4th Brigade by the latest orders to strengthen forces on the Mexican line in response to the recent unrest in Mexico and threats to American lives. The departure was delayed more than 24 hours because railroad officials were unable to procure the necessary cars. Drawn by two engines, the train consists of twenty-four tourist sleepers, four Pullmans, twelve baggage cars, nine gondola cars for wagons, and six palace horse cars. Since no barracks will be available, the troops will live in camp.
