IRVINGTON — On Sunday, September 12, 1926, the congregation of Irvington United Methodist Church walked out of their building on Layman Avenue and travelled the short distance to their new building at 30 N. Audubon Road. In honor of this momentous occasion, the church will be hosting several events throughout the month of September. The public is welcome to join the congregation to celebrate this historic event
The church service on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 10:30 a.m. will feature performances by the praise band, special music performed on our world-class organ, and reflections on how the bond between church and community serves as the backbone for spiritual wellbeing. Anyone who attends should bring a non-perishable food donation for the Big Red Box located on the south side of our building. Following the service, a pitch-in luncheon will be held in the church social hall. The main dish will be provided by the church. All are welcome to attend.
A celebration of sound from our cherished, historic 100-year-old organ performed by organist Mark Enyart will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Admission is free.
There will also be a special ticketed dinner in the church parlor to raise funds for maintaining our beautiful, historical building on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m.. The dinner will include an elegant buffet, live flute and piano music, and door prizes. Cocktail attire is recommended. Tickets are $110 per person or purchase a table of 6 for $600. All proceeds will go into a dedicated fund for building maintenance and improvements.
