INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) will hold four free landlord training seminars in 2014. The seminars are designed to assist property owners and managers keep rental properties safe and free of illegal activity.
Led by MCPO’s Community Prosecution Division, the landlord training seminars will be tailored to reach landlords of one or more residential properties, as well as managers of apartment communities.
The eight hour course provides instruction on applicant screening, rental agreements, warning signs of drug and gang activity, crisis resolution, and the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) method of property and ground maintenance to reduce and prevent crime. All locations where the sessions will be held have been donated to the MCPO.
There will be a session on June 17 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Southport City Hall and on Sept. 24 at the Warren Township Government Center. On April 22, there will be a seminar the Speedway Public Library.
Landlord trainings are free and open to property owners and managers of Marion County residential rental properties, but registration is required. All attendees will receive a training certificate for completion of the training. Registration form and more information are available at www.indy.gov/MCPO/LandlordTraining.
