INDIANAPOLIS — The theme of this year’s fair is “It’s a Hit” and this August, the Indiana State Fair is bringing even more reasons to celebrate summer. From advance savings and family ticket packages to fan favorite discount days and affordable food options, the Indiana State Fair continues to deliver one of the best entertainment values in the state.
The Indiana State Fair is the sixth oldest State Fair in the country, started in 1851 in what is now Military Park, and moved to the Fairgrounds at 1202 E, 38th St. in 1892.
Running August 7 through August 23, closed Mondays, this year’s Fair combines exciting new attractions, live entertainment, agriculture, food, and family fun with savings available nearly every day. General admission tickets are $18 at the gate, with parking at $15 per vehicle.
Guests who purchase before August 6 at 11:59 p.m. ET can save on several Fair favorites.

Several special days make visiting the Fair even more affordable.
• $2 Tuesdays on August 11 and August 18 feature $2 admission, $2 Midway rides, and $2 food specials at every concession stand.
• Military and First Responders Day on Wednesday, August 12 offers free admission for military personnel, veterans, first responders, and their immediate family members with valid identification.
• IndyStar Free Ticket Day on Wednesday, August 19 allows guests to receive free admission with a voucher published in the IndyStar on Monday, August 17.
• Ride your bicycle to the Fair and receive $1 off admission while enjoying free secure bike parking.
• Complimentary tractor shuttle rides help guests travel around the Fairgrounds with ease.
• Children ages five and younger are admitted free every day.
Admission includes access to hundreds of exhibits, animal barns, live demonstrations, family attractions, interactive experiences, and entertainment throughout the Fairgrounds. Guests can also enjoy this year’s baseball themed celebration with the Indianapolis Indians, the immersive Rewind: A VHS Revival exhibit, circus performances, live music on the Hoosier Lottery Free Stage, and dozens of new attractions around the grounds.
