From The Indianapolis Star, Thursday, May 24: In response to pollution in Pleasant Run, Bernard Jeup, city engineer, outlined to members of the board of park commissioners today a plan for the construction of an interceptor sewer along the creek that would eliminate objectionable waste that now flows into the stream causing unsanitary conditions along parkways and in parks. The task of planning the interceptor is to be undertaken by the Indianapolis Sanitary Commission, Jeup said. The proposed interceptor would extend along the stream from a point near Shelby St to the southwest limits of the city. Many manufacturing plants that now drain waste products into the stream would provide connections with this sewer. Jeup said the commission intends to make a thorough survey of all streams passing through the city to ascertain where sanitary conditions may be improved.
