INDIANA — Fireworks in the state of Indiana are permitted from 5 p.m. to two hours after sunset June 28-July 5-9. They are permissible from 10 a.m.-midnight on July 4.
• You must be 18 or older to purchase fireworks.
• An adult must be present for children to use any kind of fireworks.
• Use of fireworks is limited to your own property, the property of someone who has approved your fireworks, or a location specifically designated for the use of consumer fireworks.
Fireworks pose a significant fire threat if used improperly. In addition, the unsafe use of fireworks by adults and children can result in serious injuries.
• Never allow children to play with or light fireworks.
• Never smoke or drink alcohol when lighting fireworks.
• Use caution when using fireworks in windy conditions. Make sure spectators are upwind from fireworks.
• Do not attempt to make or alter any fireworks.
• Only light one firework at a time. Do not attempt to re-light or fix a “dud.”
• Always have a fire extinguisher or water supply nearby when using fireworks.
Please use common sense when lighting fireworks, and be considerate of neighbors who may have PTSD or children who are sleeping. Also be considerate of pets, who may be frightened or stressed by fireworks.
