IMPD North District Hit By Gunfire

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) detectives are investigating after the North District Headquarters, 3120 E. 30th St., was struck by gunfire.
At approximately 11 p.m. on Oct. 13, officers were sitting inside North District Headquarters when they heard shots ring out. Officers immediately took cover and began working towards the exit in an attempt to locate the suspect. Before officers could get outside, the suspect had fled the area. Luckily no one was injured in this shooting. The building did sustain damage to some of its windows and walls. One vehicle in the parking lot was also struck by gunfire.
Detectives responded and began gathering witness statements. Initial investigative information points to the same suspect (or suspects) who was responsible for firing upon the Northwest District Headquarters on Oct. 4. Witnesses reported hearing a vehicle speeding away from the area shortly after the shooting. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting possible forensic evidence.
IMPD Chief Troy Riggs, as well as other command staff responded to provide support to involved officers and to be briefed on the investigation. Chief Riggs reiterated the importance of having the public’s assistance in identifying this individual and the fact that we need to get him into custody before he has an opportunity to hurt or possibly kill someone.
