• Two branches of the Indianapolis Public Library, original Carnegie Libraries that have operated since the early 1900s, have been named to the National Register of Historic Places. The two libraries are on the east side: East Washington Branch (2822 E. Washington), and the Spades Park Branch (1801 Nowland Ave.).
• Effective May 1, Indiana YMCAs announce the My Y is Every Y in Indiana statewide membership reciprocity program. This program allows active, full facility/full privilege members the flexibility to use all 43 Y facilities in Indiana and also increases the value of Y memberships.
• Writers are encouraged to find inspiration in nature with the Fort Ben Writers Project on May 14 from 1-3 p.m. at the Fort Harrison Park. • On May 2, intrepid souls planted trees along the Mass Ave/ Brookside corridor. Thanks to Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Riley Area Development Corp., and the Small Business Administration, lots of trees are growing.
• The Rivoli Park Labyrinth will host a celebration for World Labyrinth Day at 943 N Kealing Ave. on Saturday, May 7th at 12:30 p.m.  It is a picnic potluck and you are invited to bring food or any other creative offering. This is a great opportunity to what is going on in the Rivoli neighborhood.
• Partners for Animal Welfare Society (P.A.W.S.) is offering residents of Hancock County and surrounding areas a low cost alternative to getting cats and dogs spayed/neutered for as little as $5 per cat through the P.A.W.S. $5/$10/$15 Feline Fix program. Bring in 1-4 cats and the cost is $15 per cat. For 5-8 cats, the cost is $10 per cat. For 9 or more cats, the cost is only $5 per cat.  Each cat is spayed/neutered, given a three year rabies vaccine and treated for fleas. Any healthy cat or kitten that weighs at least 3 pounds qualifies. Feral cats are welcome. The cost for a dog to be spayed or neutered ranges from $40-$80, depending on the size of the dog. • On May 6, the Stutz Artists Association will open a special art exhibit to celebrate the 100th running of the Indy 500. “Fast Forward, Look Back” will include art and artifacts from the archives of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum rarely seen in public, as well as local artists’ contemporary work featuring the sport of racing. Formula One and Indy 500 Driver, Derek Daly, will join the Gallery opening as a special guest. The opening reception is a registered Porch Party in support of the Indy 500 and will be held at the Raymond James Stutz Art Gallery on Friday, May 6, 5-9 pm, as part of the IDADA First Friday Art Tour.  Live music will be provided by Gordon Brooks; cocktails by 12.05 Distillery and Fountain Square Brewery. During the Porch Party Opening Reception of “Fast Forward, Look Back,” more than a dozen vintage and collectible cars, owned by Tuner Woodard, will be on display, including the 1914 Stutz Bearcat. The Stutz is located at 212 W. 10th St.
