INDIANAPOLIS — On February 10, Mayor Joe Hogsett announced a temporary stop to the planned Covanta Advanced Recycling Center (ARC) to allow for public input and consideration. Later that month, the Indiana Court of Appeals permanently nullified the contract for the ARC. In order to identify the best options for recycling in Indianapolis going forward, the mayor will be engaging the community and stakeholder groups through a series of public meetings and conversations, the first of which is scheduled for Wed., April 6 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Garfield Park Arts Gallery, 2432 Conservatory Dr.
The April 6th event will include an open house, remarks from Mayor Hogsett and city officials, as well as the opportunity for community groups and local stakeholders to share information about current and future recycling initiatives. In addition, the public will have the opportunity to provide input and are encouraged to sign up in advance to ensure a time slot by clicking here.
If residents are unable to attend but would like to provide input on the City’s recycling services, ideas and comments can be sent to recycling@indy.gov, where suggestions will be reviewed and considered.
