From The Indianapolis Times, Thursday, September 16, 1915: The special fresh air school for tuberculosis children, on the grounds of Arsenal Technical High School, began its winter term this week with added improvements, including two sleeping porches, for caring for the 50 children enrolled. The school first opened last year with 22 children, and all improved mentally and physically; the average gain per child was 7.83 pounds. These children are in a special school to remove the danger of infecting the well children and to give them a chance to get an education and health care at the same time according to the Marion County Society for the Prevention of Tuberculosis. Two teachers have been hired for the school by the School Board, and the Society will furnish suits, cots, blankets, food, street car tickets, and other incidentals.
