Meet Lola, the Weekly View Office Cat

I was born and raised in a barn in Owen County before I came to work at the Weekly View. I’m about four years old. A nice lady put me in a carrier and brought me to the FACE Clinic so I wouldn’t have more kittens (I had two litters — they all found good homes). I was supposed to have a new home with someone else after I got over my operation, but she couldn’t take me.
At first I was scared of everyone except the nice lady who put me in the carrier. Then I got to know the other ones, and allow them to pet me and give me treats. They gave me a name, Lola, and decided I needed a job. They discovered I’m very good at supervising humans as they put the paper together. I like to play with string and toys that look like mice on my break time. I’ve only had one accident outside my litter box — I got yelled at and I don’t think I’ll do THAT again!
I like my new job, because they are very nice to me and give me treats and comfortable places to nap. When people come to the counter to place ads, I wait very politely in the hallway and watch. These humans are very well trained and I’m confident they will take care of customers properly, but I need to watch just in case they slip up. I hide from the carriers when they come on Thursday morning to get papers to deliver, but that’s just because I don’t want to get underfoot.
They tell me that the East Side Herald had an office cat, Harry, who was very popular with visitors. I like to think I’m part of a newspaper tradition — the newspaper office kitty.
