From The Indianapolis News, Monday, August 18, 1913: Frederick Neil Innes and his famous band of 55 members will open the Midsummer Music Festival at the State Fair Coliseum tomorrow night. The Coliseum is the perfect place for hearing music; not a shading of delicate effect is lost so excellent is the hearing in every part of the building. It is enough distance from the city’s center to take people away from the heat and give something of the outing touch, and yet near to assure convenient street car service and ample auto parking. The “Tannhaeuser” overture opens the festival which is appropriate in the centennial of the birth of Richard Wagner, now the greatest single drawing power among all composers. Wednesday night will be entirely a Wagner program. Most of the seats are 25¢.
