• The Franciscan Health Foundation will be hosting a Mobile Market at the Sierra Fresh Start Market Food Pantry in Greenwood on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. In preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday, one frozen turkey and side items will be distributed per family on a first come, first served basis. The Mobile Market is available to residents in need of food assistance and provides FREE proteins, fruits, vegetables and grains to individuals and families. The Mobile Market is drive-through only. Volunteers will line up cars for food distribution. Attendees must show valid proof of Indiana residency. The Sierra Fresh Start Market Food Pantry is located at 1040 Sierra Dr. in Greenwood.
• From October 28 through November 10 FIDO will be trying to collect a month’s worth of dog and cat food for their Pet Food Pantry and Open Hours Warehouse. The goal is to collect 12,000 lbs of dog food and 3,000 lbs of cat food. Bags of food can be dropped off at their headquarters, 1505 N. Sherman Dr. Sundays from noon-3 p.m. or Wednesdays from 4-7 p.m. If you would prefer to make a monetary donation instead, just $21 buys 50 lbs of dog food or 36 lbs of cat food. • Over the weekend, IMPD and Indiana State Police teamed up to address reckless driving, resulting in more than ten arrests and multiple vehicles impounded. Officers also seized firearms and narcotics, underscoring our commitment to keeping our roads and community safe. They were able to locate and disrupt multiple large gatherings of ‘spinners’ throughout the city. The crackdown also led to arrests of both adult and juvenile suspects on charges including criminal recklessness, reckless driving, resisting law enforcement, possession of marijuana, and possession of cocaine. Additional recoveries included stolen firearms, stolen vehicles, and two missing children. Numerous citations were also issued throughout the weekend.
• A new box has been added as part of the Big Red Box Project. The new box is located next to the Surgery entrance of Community Hospital East, at 16th and Ritter. This new box will help serve our neighbors who are food insecure. Please donate goods in all of the boxes, if you can. The locations are 20 N. Audubon Circle, 400 S. Ritter, and 2015 S. Arlington.
• The Epilogue Players will produce Morning After Grace by Carey Crim Nov. 14-24 in Thursday-Saturday performances at their theatre, 1849 N. Alabama St. This new comedy tackles love, loss and coming to terms with growing older. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. except for Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $16 for general admission, and Thursday performances are $10.
