INDIANAPOLIS — A series of free workshops offered by Coburn Place aims to promote mental health in the Black community. Taking Care of You; Mental Health 101 will be an interactive workshop held on Saturday, Oct. 21 from noon-3 p.m. at the TWC Event Center, 4175 Millersville Rd. A meal will be provided.
Led by therapist Hazel Owens, the day starts with mindfulness and meditation with the Yoga Lady, followed by discussions on how trauma affects your life, coping skills, and what healing looks like.
Children who attend will learn about fire safety with Brownsburg Fire Territory’s Deputy Fire Marshall/Public Information Officer Nina Powell while attendees take time for themselves.
