• East District IMPD will offer Coffee with a Cop on Wednesday, March 15 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Dunkin Donuts at 4404 E. 10th St. Come on out to chat with the officers who patrol our streets.
• Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside (FIDO) will hold a fundraising flea market on Saturday, March 11 from noon-3 p.m. at their headquarters, 1505 N. Sherman. The market will have super-cheap pet supplies, especially for smaller dogs, cats and other furry creatures. Come on out to support this important organization’s work.
• Martin University will host a Black Child Book Fair on Saturday, March 11 from noon-5 p.m. at the Gathertorium at 2186 N. Sherman Dr. Authors will be on hand, and kids are encouraged to attend. The event is free.
• Last call to register for the annual Circle City Donut Dash 5K to support Teachers’ Treasures on Saturday, March 18 at 9 a.m. You can participate three ways: do the Donut Challenge and eat 12 donut holes from Jack’s Donuts halfway through, or the “regular” dash, or a virtual race. • The Garfield Park annual spring bulb show wraps up Friday, March 10 at 5 p.m. at the Garfield Park Conservatory, 2505 Conservatory Dr. This display of tulips, daffodils, and other spring blooms will get you into the springtime spirit. Admission is $5 per person, or $12 for families (2 adults per family). Bulbs from the display go on sale on Saturday, March 11. Hours are Tues.-Sat. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sun. 1-5 p.m.
• Congratulations to the Indiana Repertory Theatre’s Young Playwrights in Process winners Avery Selivan (Herron High School), and Greer Hanlon (Sycamore School). These two young playwrights were selected through an extensive process judged by professional playwrights. Both students were awarded $1,000 and had a stage reading of their full plays by professional actors. The next competition for high school and middle school students begins in fall.
