From The Indianapolis News, Thursday, October 26, 1922: The stockroom at police headquarters where confiscated liquor is stored is filled and additional space must be found to take care of the liquor seized by police that is arriving daily at headquarters. Judge Delbert Wilmeth, city judge, and police officials are casting about for some means of storing the overflow. Sergeant Samuel Rariden, who has charge of the liquor storage, says one reason why the stockroom is filled is that many liquor cases are continued in city court. Judge Wilmeth asserted that no liquor cases are continued more than six or eight weeks and once the cases are disposed of the liquor that has been held as evidence is destroyed. The large quantity of home-made beer that has been confiscated in the last few months has contributed to the storage problem.
