The Indianapolis News, Tuesday, April 15, 1913: The Young Women’s Christian Association has leased the late residence of George B. Yandes, 122 E. Michigan St, for a boarding home for young ladies. This is the first of a number of proposed boarding homes that the YWCA hopes to establish in various parts of the city. It is expected that this YWCA home will accommodate twenty to thirty girls who are earning their own living in the business community or who are dwelling away from their families. The home’s location is especially convenient for girls employed in the downtown district. A $10,000 (2012 $228,793.11) bequest in the will of Mr. Yandes made this first home under the YWCA plan possible. It is expected to be opened by June 1 at the latest.
