First Responders Honored at Luncheon

INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Energy Group presented the 51st Annual Fire, Police & Deputy Sheriff’s Community Recognition Luncheon on Thursday, April 18. The awards are presented to deserving members of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) and Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) to honor those who risk their lives to save others.
The event was hosted by WTHR personalities Julia Moffit & Bill Hill and recognized numerous IMPD officers for the outstanding performance in 2018. Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and IMPD Chief Bryan Roach were on hand to congratulate recipients on a job well done.
Just a few of the honorees included:  Downtown District Officer of the Year Officer Phillip Smiley, North District Officer of the Year Officer Robyn Frazier, East District Officer of the Year Officer Matthew Fortney, and Southeast District Officer of the Year Officer Gregory Brinker.
Other officers were honored, including those in Investigations, Traffic, Special Services, Community Officers, Reserve Officers, and Administration. Rookie of the Year was Officer Kevin Roell and Supervisor of the Year was Sergeant Jeffrey Augustinovicz. Crime Stopper Officer of the Year was named Detective Nicholas Ragsdale.
IMPD Officer of the Year was Officer Mark Spears.
