Applause!: Dec. 2-6

• Christmas in Wanamaker will be Dec. 3 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The parade begins at noon and Santa will be around to hear special gift requests. The activities will be going on in the 8600-8900 blocks of Southeastern Ave.
• Cumberland’s Weihnachtsmarkt will also take place Dec. 3 from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. There will be entertainment tents with music from 3-5 and 7 p.m., food, a beer and wine area for adults, vendor tents open from noon-5 and a tree lighting. There’s something for everyone. The market will be held in downtown Cumberland.
• The Auxiliary to Community Hospital East will sponsor a “Collective Goods” sale on Tues., Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Wed., Dec. 7, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the breezeway near the main lobby. Quality books and gifts will be available at up to 70% off the retail price. Proceeds benefit hospital programs/services.  Payment by cash, checks, debit and credit cards and payroll deduction. • East 10th UMC, 2327 E. 10th St., has a weekly Community Dinner and it is served on Sunday nights from 5-7 p.m. This dinner serves a lot of people in need on the east side. The church is looking for help in keeping the dinners going, with donations of food and time. If your church or organization would like to help, please call them at 317-637-08411.
• Community Heights Neighborhood Organization will be saying “thank you” to First Responders in the community on Tue., Dec. 13 by putting together goodie bags full of holiday treats for the good folks in our police and fire deparments. Please bring your favorite holiday treat (cookies, candy, etc) to the monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at Arlington Heights Baptist Church located at 5630 E 16th St. The organization will distribute the bags later.
• K9 Officer Bravo passed away on Thanksgiving Day, after a recent diagnosis of kidney failure. He served IMPD with Officer Mike Diehl. Our condolences on the department’s, and the officer’s, loss.
• This Friday’s First Friday art gallery extravaganza will have a lot of special events for folks on your list that love unique, artistic things under the Christmas tree. The INDIEana Handicraft Exchange will take place at the Harrison Center for the Arts (corner of Delaware and 16th St.) Dec. 2 from 5-10 p.m. in the gym. There are lots of local craft items and one-of-a-kind pieces to choose from many vendors. The first 100 in line to get in will get a free swag bag.
The Annual Stutz Holiday Open House will be on Dec. 2, 5-10 p.m. In addition to the art and opportunity to meet Stutz artists during Friday’s Open House, guests can get their picture taken with Santa, dancers from the Indianapolis School of Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” will be performing and dancing throughout the hallways; there will be food trucks, drinks available for purchase and entertainment throughout the evening. The event will be at Stutz Business Center, 212 W. 10th St. (enter through Bearcat Alley from 10th Street between Capitol and Senate).
