Cabaret Poe Begins Oct. 14

INDIANAPOLIS — Theatre on the Square and Q Artistry will team up again to present Cabaret Poe beginning Oct. 14th. The production was brought to TOTS in 2015 and has appeared at what was the previous Q Artistry “home space” in the Historic Irvington Lodge since 2009. This year’s Cabaret Poe will feature Georgeanna Smith Wade for select performances
Including most of Edgar Allan Poe’s most famous works, Cabaret Poe is a mix of humor and classic horror all brought to life with song and storytelling. The Raven, The Tell Tale Heart, The Fall of the House of Usher and Annabel Lee are just a small portion of the literary gems included in this Indianapolis original theatre experience. With live music and dance, it has a little bit of everything for those who are okay with things leaning toward the dark side.
This show is not recommended for kids under the age of 10. While most of the original cast will be returning for the gothic fun, this year Georgeanna Smith-Wade will be stepping into the show for the first time for select performances. Smith Wade is a highly regarded Indy actor with appearances in ZirkusGrimm (Q Artistry), House of Blue Lights (NoExit) and NoExit’s The Nutcracker among many others. She is the Associate Artistic Director of Young Actors Theatre and a company member of NoExit Performance. Her select performance dates are Oct. 14, 20, 23, 27. Other cast members include playwright and composer Ben Asaykwee, Renae Stone (select performances), Julie Lyn Barber and Jaddy Ciucci.
With ties to both theatre education and literature, Cabaret Poe is a perfect experience for high schools. Along with evening performances, the Q/TOTS partnership will also host school shows during the day. In 2014 and 2015, over 1200 high school students from all over the state came to Indianapolis to see the show.
Cabaret Poe will run Oct. 14th through Oct. 30th at Theatre on the Square, 627 Massachusetts Ave, on Thurs.-Sat.at 8 p.m. and Sun. at 5 p.m. More information is available at qartistry.org, tots.org, cabaretpoe.com. For information on booking school shows, please e-mail ben@qartistry.org
