SNSI Celebrates Milestone Spay-Neuter Surgery

INDIANAPOLIS — Tattoo is a young, male, mixed breed who had little hope of survival after being picked up as a stray by and never claimed from Indianapolis Animal Care and Control (IACC)  earlier this year. Then, Idaville rescue organization Last Call K9s pulled Tattoo from the shelter and worked with Spay–Neuter Services of Indiana (SNSI) to get Tattoo neutered and adoption ready.
Tattoo represents the 100,000th spay-neuter surgery provided by SNSI since its inception in 1977. “Indiana shelters are frequently overcrowded, and it takes the collective efforts of many to move each animal from risk of euthanasia into successful adoption,” said Cheri Storms, president of SNSI. “Unfortunately, there are too many animals and too few homes for every animal to have a happy ending. That’s why it’s critical that we spay/neuter to prevent shelter overpopulation. This is the permanent solution.”
SNSI has facilitated surgeries for 100,000 dogs and cats, working through 120 shared-mission veterinarians in the SNSI network.
SNSI’s programs is made possible through donations, grants, and from revenues from the sale of the Indiana Pet Friendly License Plate, now the #2 selling specialty plate in Indiana. To learn more about SNSI and the Pet Friendly plate, visit www.GetThemFixed.org.
