From The Indianapolis News, Wednesday, March 10, 1915: The United German Societies of Indianapolis are making an effort to present to the public a series of authentic motion pictures which were not staged, but snatched by the camera man as things were happening in the eastern and western theaters of war. A selection of six reels of films taken by the permission of the German general staff will be shown at Tomlinson Hall Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the proceeds going to the relief fund for widows and orphans of German and Austro-Hungarian defenders. Emil Hoch of New York City will explain the various scenes which include the gruesome battlefield of Tannenberg, the “busy Berthas,” and French and German trenches.
