INDIANAPOLIS — Westminster Neighborhood Services, Inc. (Westminster), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving at-risk children and families on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis for over 30 years, became one of Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana Inc.’s Pantry Partners on July 1. A Pantry Partner is a high-capacity pantry capable of storing and distributing large volumes of food to families in need. Westminster is one of only 13 partners in four Indiana counties.
The partnership enables Westminster to expand its current pantry services and hours for serving clients. Westminster’s service boundaries are Rural Street to the east, Southeastern Avenue to the south, Pine Street to the west and 10th Street to the north. Westminster’s Family & Adult Services Center at 2325 E. New York Street, opened in February 2015. Services in the new facility include a food pantry, clothing closet, soup kitchen, opportunity resource center, adult education and basic health care in partnership with Gennesaret Free Clinics. Current pantry hours are 3-6 p.m. Mondays and 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays, with plans to add weekend hours later this year.
