From The Indianapolis Times, Thursday, July 22, 1915: Pro-German activities in Indianapolis continue. One of the strongest pro-German documents yet put forth is that issued by Hugo Wuelfing, of the realty firm Hugo Wuelfing & Son of this city. In a letter accompanying his remarkable pamphlet Danger, Wuelfing declares it is the duty of every American to weigh conditions from all sides. He says, “May our country, aside from all sympathies, be just and fair – and avoid war.” In his pamphlet Wuelfing tells of England’s illegal acts on the sea, and asserts that Germany’s sea policy was forced on her by England’s policy of attempting to starve German women and children. Danger asserts that international law gives the right to retaliation. The National German Alliance asks newspapers to publish the contents of Danger.
