From The Indianapolis Times, Wednesday, June 23, 1915: Denunciation of England’s rule of Ireland and praise for the accomplishments of Americans of German and Irish descent marked a meeting of more than 1,500 members of the United German and Irish Societies of Indianapolis at Tomlinson Hall last night. While the crowd showed its German sympathies in the war and appreciation at the remarks by applauding many times, the meeting was not demonstrative. University of Berlin Prof. Kuno Meyer accused England of a studied campaign of vilification against Germany and branded her treatment of Ireland as barbarous. “The course of events and the fortunes of war have brought Ireland and Germany and Irish and Germans together. So it has come about that the interests of Germany and Ireland are identical,” he said.
