From The Indianapolis News, Monday, August 17, 1914: Articles of incorporation were filed with the Indiana Secretary of State for the League of 1914. It is an association of Indianapolis citizens of German descent whose purpose is “extending to the German people the assurance of our steadfast confidence in the justice of their cause in the terrible world war of 1914, to collect moneys to be devoted to the support of Germans afflicted by the war, particularly the widows and children of fallen German soldiers, [and] to effectuate the publication in the public press of Germany’s attitude toward the war as well as to obtain fair, unbiased and truthful reports of events as they may develop.” The following standing committees have been named: Finance, Albrecht Kipp; Press, Richard Lieber; Membership, Herman P. Lieber.
