Applause!: Sept. 4-10

• Rushing Mighty Wind FGBC in the Irvington Historic District of Indianapolis will be hosting a fellowship event on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 2-4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to the Paint & Prayer event at the church, located at 23 South Ritter Ave.
• Hampton & Co. will have a 8 year anniversary party on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.  Big Fun Printhouse will be helping with a koozie bar — choose your favorite design of the 8 styles, then choose your color and koozie selection while supplies last. Also, enjoy complimentary cake from Bittersweet, champagne, Live DJ music, giveaways and more.
• On Sunday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m., Charlotte Ottinger-Flick will discuss her book Madge: The Life and Times of the Young Irvington Woman who Brought Down D.C. Stephenson and the Ku Klux Klan in Indiana. She will be available to sign copies of her book. The event will be at the Bonna Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 University Ave.
• The Indianapolis Bonsai Club will host a bonsai show at Garfield Park Conservatory Saturday, Sept. 5, and Sunday, Sept. 6. Club members will display their bonsai along with the Conservatory’s collection. Plants and supplies will also be for sale. Admission is $7 per person, or $15 for families. The conservatory is located at 2519 Garfield Plaza Dr.
• First Friday art gallery openings and gatherings begin around 6 p.m., but the Eiteljorg will host its final summer Free First Friday on Sept. 4 at 3 p.m. Enjoy local DJs, lawn games, printmaking artists, and more inside and outside the museum, located at 500 W. Washington St. Other galleries will be open, such as the Factory Arts Complex at 1125 Brookside Ave., Harrison Center, 1505 N. Delaware, the Stutz, 1010 N. Capitol Ave., and the Irvington community. Look for music at the Irving Theatre, check out all the shops, and have fun!
• Beech Grove Moose Card Show will be held Sunday, Sept. 6 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 3320 S. Emerson. There will be sports, Pokemon, and card games available, plus collectibles. Free admission.
• Local animal shelters are seeing a significant increase in pet surrenders due to increased costs for food, shelter, and fuel. If you find yourself in a squeeze, there is help available.
