INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Humanities will celebrate the power of writing that grows in the Midwest during the third annual Proof: A Midwest Lit Fest on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., offering a full schedule for writers, readers, and lovers of all things literary.
The free festival is hosted in partnership with local poets Mitchell L.H. Douglas and Chantel Massey and will take place at the Harrison Center in Indianapolis and the surrounding neighborhood. It will include writing workshops, a family fun area, a local writers mixer, a book fair with local booksellers and literary organizations, panel conversations, local and regional author readings, bookish activities for all ages, an open mic, and food trucks, music, games, and prizes.
New this year will be a local authors fair, held by the Indianapolis Public Library in partnership with Herron High School, around the corner from the Harrison Center.
There will be three INconversations and book signings throughout the day, starting with author Tom Lin (Babylon, South Dakota) talking to local Conversation Piece podcast creator Patrick Armstrong. Lin’s first novel, The Thousand Crimes of Ming Tsu, won the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence.
The keynote will be a conversation between writers Hanif Abdurraqib (There’s Always This Year) and Marcus Wicker (Dear Mothership: Poems).
