GREENFIELD — On Friday, Sept. 11 from 4-10 p.m., there will be a special event, Hometown Heroes, marking the 25th Anniversary of 9/11, supporting the spirit of America 250, and paying tribute to the brave men and women who serve as first responders every day in the community.
The special evening will honor and celebrate fire, police, EMS, dispatch, and emergency personnel, along with healthcare heroes and schools, while bringing the community together in remembrance of a day that forever shaped our nation.
The event will take place in downtown Greenfield, with North St. closed between State Road 9 and Pennsylvania St., along with the north section of the Living Alley, creating a patriotic, family-friendly gathering space filled with activities, tributes and community fun. The event includes:
• Tribute recognition for first responders & healthcare heroes, including opening remarks from Mayor Guy Titus
• First Responder Award Presentation
• Food trucks, live music and Wood Bear signature beverages
• Family-friendly games and activities, including Corn Hole
• America 250-Themed Bed Races, where teams decorate their beds to represent the America 250 theme and compete for community votes
• Patriotic drone show at dusk set to music to close the evening
