INDIANA — Indiana University fans erupted in cheers on Monday, Jan. 19 when the Hoo-Hoo Hoosiers took the College Football Playoff championship for the first time in the university’s history. Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza and the entire team played their hearts out, finishing off the Miami Hurricanes 27-21. The win caps off an undefeated season. They are the first FBS team to complete a perfect 16-win season since the 1894 Bulldogs.
Coach Curt Cignetti, in his second year at IU, built the team up from the ground from last year, cultivating talent and inspiring the squad to give their all. Last year, he was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second time.
Congratulations to the Cream and Crimson!
