Applause!: June 13-19

• The new Damien Center’s new headquarters has opened. The Mosaic Building is Indiana’s first purpose-built building designed to serve people living with HIV and be a safe, affirming space for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies. The building is located at 1420 E. Washington St.
• The Martindale-Brightwood library branch will host Puzzlepalooza on Monday, June 16 from 5 – 7 p.m. Puzzle fanatics are welcome to listen to family-friendly music will working on puzzles at all levels of difficulty. There will be a communal puzzle, family puzzles, and individual puzzles. There will also be a puzzle marathon. The library is located at 2434 N. Sherman Dr.
• T Street Eatz Café is now open at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair. From freshly brewed coffee and pastries to hearty breakfast sandwiches and satisfying lunch choices like sliders, salads, pizza, as well as a limited offering of plant-based and gluten-free options, the café is designed to have something for everyone.T Street Eatz operating hours will be: Mon. & Tues. 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Wed. through Fri. 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. & Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m.
• The Black Hat Society will host the Freakness Stakes on Sunday, June 22 from 3-6 p.m. at 203 Good Ave., a fundraising gala that includes music, a silent auction, and a surprising race. Paid bar provided by SNUG with specialty drinks, wine and beer by Big Lug Brewery. Tickets are $50 and available online at www.zeffy.com/ticketing/the-freakness-stakes. Get tickets now! VIP parking at 234 S. Good will be available first-come, first-served for $5. This is a semi-formal event, so wear your best Ascot or Derby inspired look. There will be a best hat contest.
• All library locations will be closed on Thursday, June 19 to celebrate Juneteenth, except for the InfoZone at the Children’s Museum, which will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
• Pedestrians and bicycle riders continue to be in danger on the streets of Indianapolis. According to Safe Streets Indy, in the first week of June, 10 pedestrians and 7 bicyclists were hit by cars. With warmer weather, more walkers and bikers will be out and drivers must share the road. Many of the incidents were hit-and-runs. If you hit someone, you must stay at the scene of the accident to make a report. Walkers and cyclists, as well as drivers, need to pay closer attention to the roads — put down the cell phone!
• Do you like Italian food and culture? Then you must swing by the Holy Rosary Italian Street Festival on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June14 from 5-11 p.m. both days. The festival will be held at Holy Rosary, 520 Stevens Ave. There will be free parking in the Eli Lilly lots on East and New Jersey streets. Friday night, there will be extra traffic due to the Pacers game at Gainbridge nearby.
• Ellenberger Park will host a yoga outing on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:10 a.m. with Breathe Studio. Drop-in rate is $18 and a portion of the proceeds will support Indy Parks and Friends of Ellenberger. Bring your own mat.
