LAWRENCE — MSD of Lawrence Township will break ground on a new $20 million Administration building at historic Fort Benjamin Harrison, immediately west of Civic Plaza (5710 Lawrence Village Parkway). The groundbreaking is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m.
The project should be completed by early 2025 and will replace the current one at 6501 Sunnyside Rd. The new building will be in the middle of a revitalized district of shops, restaurants, and other amenities.
The Fort Harrison Re-Use Authority donated the land for the new facility to the school corporation in 2023. The facility will house the district’s business operations and executive offices. The Sunnyside site will continue to house Lawrence Advance Academy, several alternative and special needs programs, and will be the home of the future Craig Academy.
This new construction will occur with no increased taxation of district homeowners and will be financed using bond money. The new LECC facility is not part of the ten 2019 referendum-funded capital projects.
