Jan Gudaitis, whose comedic “nom de hoot” is “Deadpan Jan: My Life is Not a Sex Party or Is It?,” delivers her chuckles and laughter in a monotone as she speculates on whether her life is a sex party. Her encounter with a Ouija board had her looking for “David,” and her publishers will not consider a book about how to kill the David she married. Her final show will be Sat. Sept. 3, at 3:30 p.m. at District Theatre (627 Mass Avenue).
Mandee McKelvey’s show, “Exes & Embryos” takes you on a hilarious romp through the intimate workings of the medical world’s relationship with women. She riffs about in vitro fertilization and “kid kindling,” and a man’s “most abundant resource” (see the show!) and shines a light on a woman’s most intimate choice. Her final shows will be Sat., Sept. 3, at 1:45 p.m. and Sun., Sept. 4 at 3:30 p.m. at Indy Fringe (719 St. Clair St.) A must see!
Tim Mooney’s “Breakneck Comedy of Errors” was a tour de force as Mooney cycled through the various hats that represented the characters of Shakespeare’s play. One gets breathless laughing at the doffing and discarding of the headwear and once again, marveling at Mooney’s command of The Bard’s works.
Jon Bennett’s show, “Fire In The Meth Lab” explores the difficult question of how best to memorialize one’s relationship with a beloved, drug-addicted sibling. Bennet’s humorous take on a dark subject provides his audience with a view from the deep, as well as signposts toward hope. His final show will be Sun., Sept. 4, at noon p.m. at Indy Fringe (719 St. Clair St.)
A young man enthusiastically pounded the keys of a colorful piano outside of The District Theatre on Massachusetts Avenue, much to the delight of Indy Fringe patrons. The tiny tip-cup atop the piano belied the outsized talent that Matt Soverns delivered. His eponymous CD is worth the ducats.
