From The Indianapolis News, Tuesday, November 11, 1913: A series of dances are being scheduled for young people, especially those of the working class, that they may enjoy an evening surrounded by the best possible influences, Harry D. Tutewiler, city playground commissioner, announced today. The first of the series will be held in the Communal House, South Meridian and Morris Streets, Saturday night, and dances in other communities will follow at frequent intervals, including one at Tomlinson Hall, as soon as they can be arranged. The young people attending the dances will be expected to be models of good deportment. There will be matrons and a number of hostesses from the Woman’s Department Club at each dance and the tango, the bunny hop, and the grizzly will not be permitted.
