From The Indianapolis News, Wednesday, May 10, 1922: The purchase of the Frank D. Stainaker home and property, northwest corner of Fourteenth and Meridian Streets, for the new Cathedral High School was announced today by Rt. Rev. Joseph Chartrand, bishop of Indianapolis. Plans call for the new high school building to be one of the largest and finest in the state. The Stainaker home will be remodeled as a temporary high school building with classrooms and an assembly hall. It will be ready next fall. Presently, 390 students attend high school in crowded classrooms in an old school building on the southwest corner of Fourteenth and Pennsylvania Streets that was originally constructed for a Catholic grade school. The Brothers of the Congregation of Holy Cross, with headquarters at the University of Notre Dame, are in charge of the high school.
