From The Indianapolis Star, Friday, April 13: In response to a message from the United States attorney general ordering the enforcement of President Wilson’s proclamation, Indianapolis Police Inspector Charles Barmfuhrer has begun preparations to take all firearms or weapons of war; ammunition, bombs, explosives, or materials used in the making of explosives; any aircraft or wireless apparatus; any signaling device, or any cipher code, papers, document or book written in cipher which an enemy alien is not permitted to possess during war. German-born residents of Indianapolis who have not become United States citizens are required to take their prohibited items to police headquarters within twenty-four hours. Receipts will be given for the prohibited items, which will be returned to the owners at the end of the war. Any alien enemy failing to comply with the order is subject to arrest.
