From The Indianapolis News, Wednesday, February 28: The Indianapolis Dental Society petitioned the Indianapolis board of school commissioners for permission to examine the teeth of all children in the city’s public schools. This is the first tangible offer for dental inspection in the schools. The examinations would be made by various members of the dental society who would keep records of the results. Three to six free dental clinics, at which poor children may have inexpensive work done, are planned by the society’s oral hygiene and educational department. These clinics, which are expected to be set-up soon, will be conducted under the supervision of the Children’s Aid Association, in connection with its present milk stations so children may have dental work done during the summer vacation. The Indianapolis Board of Health currently conducts medical inspections of public school children.
