From The Indianapolis News, Friday, February 16: A record in army recruiting has been reported for the period February 1 to 10. Captain Edward R. Coppock, who is in charge of the Indianapolis U. S. Army recruiting station, announced that 125 new recruits had been accepted since the United States broke diplomatic relations with Germany. This sets a new high mark for the local army recruiting station, and at this rate the enlistments for February will be nearly 250 per cent of the station’s monthly quota. Indianapolis stands third behind Atlanta, GA and Portland, OR in the list of accepted recruits that have been made through postmasters in the last quarter. Captain Coppock says business is continuously on the increase at the Indianapolis station, and the local Marine Corps and Navy recruiting stations also report good business.
