From The Indianapolis News, Friday, February 16: By train and interurban suffragists – women and men wearing yellow streamers proclaiming “Votes for Women” – from practically every Indiana town converged on the Statehouse to show by their presence that they were in favor of suffrage. Mrs. John [Celeste] Barnhill, Mrs. Ovid Butler [Mary] Jameson, and Mrs. Felix [Luella] McWhirter were among the prominent suffragists at every Statehouse entrance pinning on badges, passing out information and urging visitors not to pester members of the Indiana House, but to show support for the Senate passed bill to give women the right to vote for all elective officials, except for Constitutional offices, by silent demonstration. Lawyers, ministers, and a delegation from the Central Labor Union also joined demonstrators and met with members of the House from Marion County urging their support of the suffrage measure.
