INDIANAPOLIS — Youth in Indianapolis will have a new play space to call their own, thanks to the Add More Play in Your Day program grant from Mondelēz International, the Kroger Family of Stores and the U.S. Soccer Foundation.
The grant from these companies, with additional support from Indiana Soccer and the Indy Eleven Foundation, was awarded to Arsenal Technical High School, enabling the organizations to install an acrylic soccer pitch to provide a safe place for children in the community to play. It will support programs that help kids reach their full potential both on and off the playing field.
Located just north of Chase Legacy Center, near several other schools and a community center, this new 7,200-square-foot pitch transforms an area that was last used as a construction staging area for Lucas Oil Stadium into a safe place for children to play, learn and grow. Designed to last up to 10 years, the mini-pitch features a new surface, new goals, fencing and more.
The new mini-pitch opened to the public on Aug. 23.
