INDIANAPOLIS — Neighborhoods, USA (NUSA) named the Fletcher Place Neighborhood Association in Indianapolis the 2016 Grand Prize winner of the Neighborhood of the Year (NOTY) Award May 27 at the 41st annual NUSA conference in Memphis, Tenn.
Finishing in first place in the Social Revitalization category of the annual NOTY competition, the inaugural Virginia Avenue Folk Fest featured 70 live acts on 9 stages and welcomed more than 10,000 visitors to the Fletcher Place neighborhood. The family-friend festival introduced the young, as well as the young at heart, to Americana, bluegrass and folk music, while also promoting local businesses. The event also raised funds for and awareness of the non-profit group Trusted Mentors.
The Fletcher Place neighborhood is on the southeast side of Indianapolis. For more information about this up-and-coming community, visit www.fletcherplace.org
