From The Indianapolis News, Wednesday, April 26, 1916: The Indiana branch of the League to Enforce Peace selected Indianapolis attorney Quincy A. Myers to be president of the organization. Temporary president Henry Lane Wilson said, “The League to Enforce Peace was formed in Philadelphia last June to establish and maintain peace after the close of the present European War. No attempt will be made to influence the conduct of nations until the end of the conflict.” The League’s principles provide for the settlement of all questions arising between the signatory nations by judicial tribunal or conciliation council. A member nation going to war or committing hostile acts against another one of the signatory nations would face the use of economic and military force against it by the other states. The organization has memberships in all of the major countries.
