From The Indianapolis News, Thursday, April 20: Presidents of Indiana University, Purdue University, and the University of Notre Dame have enthusiastically responded to the invitation of the Citizens’ Training Camp Bureau to co-operate in the organization of three camps to be held at Ft. Benjamin Harrison beginning July 6. Also, the Chamber of Commerce is urging all Indianapolis employers to arrange for their employees to attend the citizens’ training camps, so far as possible, without loss of pay to the employee. While most of the expenses for the camps will be met by the federal government, $3,534 (2015: $77,646) has been subscribed by Indianapolis citizens to cover the preliminary costs for advertising, organization, and equipment for the camps. U. S. Army Colonel D. A. Frederick will come to Indianapolis to confer with local officials regarding the establishment of the camps.
