From The Indianapolis Star, Sunday, December 19, 1915: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 5317 E. Washington St, will be dedicated today by Bishop Joseph Chartrand, with unusually impressive ceremonies. The Rev. James J. Wade, pastor of Holy Cross Church, will be the celebrant at a solemn high mass with beautiful music provided by the church choir, under the direction of Thomas Murphy, and organist Miss Josephine Cody. The two-story building, of Roman Tuscan architecture, is a combination church and school erected at a cost $40,000 (2014: $922,426.71). The social hall in the basement will be the scene of a dinner, served by the women of the parish, following the dedication. The Rev. Joseph Poelhuis, pastor of the church, leads a congregation numbering more than 200 families. Patrick W. Egan chaired the general committee of arrangements for the dedication.
