Produced by Indianapolis Black Theater Company, The Colored Museum is George C. Wolfe’s groundbreaking theatrical experience that shatters stereotypes, celebrates identity, and boldly confronts the many dimensions of Black life in America. Through a series of satirical, powerful, and deeply moving “exhibits,” this iconic play takes audiences on a journey through history, culture, memory, and imagination — inviting laughter, reflection, and revelation along the way.
With sharp wit and fearless honesty, The Colored Museum challenges how we see ourselves and how the world sees us, honoring the complexity, resilience, humor, and beauty of Black stories. This production is both a mirror and a celebration — a theatrical event that is as entertaining as it is transformative.
Indianapolis Black Theater Company proudly presents this seminal work as part of its 2026 season, continuing its mission to uplift Black voices, tell powerful stories, and create space for truth, healing, and excellence.
