Lawrence Authorizes Grant to Maddie Smiles Random Acts of Kindness

LAWRENCE— The City of Lawrence and Mayor Steve Collier recently authorized a $7,500 grant to Maddie Smiles Random Acts of Kindness. They also honored the remarkable life of Maddie Ross and the service of Maddie Smiles makes in the Lawrence Community.
Maddie Smiles was formed in honor of Maddie Ross, who was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. In her short life of only 20 years, Maddie changed lives just with her smile and her strength, inspiring others along the way. Maddie Smiles reminds everyone of the importance of kindness and the impact it can have on individuals, and even our local and global communities.
Maddie Smiles holds an annual toy drive for Riley Hospital for Children, honors Maddie’s “Angelversary” on June 29 by serving frozen treats to Lawrence public safety personnel, delivers boxes of food to those in need during the pandemic, and provides many other acts of kindness in her memory.
