INDIANAPOLIS — The city recently announced next steps in Marion County’s continued reopening. The Public Health Order includes the mandate for residents to wear face coverings in indoor public spaces, and in outdoor public spaces where social distancing is not possible.
The changes go into effect July 9 and closely mirror the state of Indiana’s new order, with the following exceptions:
• Residents are required to wear face coverings in indoor public spaces, and in outdoor public spaces where social distancing is not possible.
• Overnight camps must remain closed.
• Indoor visiting at nursing homes and assisted living facilities remains prohibited.
• Any event with anticipated attendance above 1,000 people, such as fairs/festivals, conventions, and sporting events, must submit an event plan for MCPHD approval.
Additionally, based on the governor’s guidance, the City of Indianapolis will extend the street closures of Georgia Street, Broad Ripple Avenue, and Massachusetts Avenue through July 19 to accommodate continued restrictions on restaurant and bar capacity.
