Peacock on the Lam Gets Nabbed

Frank the Peacock strutted freely through the southeast and east side of Indianapolis in mid-May, creating a stir and inspiring a Facebook page and tracking map. Early sightings pegged his origins somewhere in Franklin Township, but the flouncy fowl strolled confidently north and northwest through several neighborhoods.
On May 25 and 26, several social media neighborhood pages shared photos of Frank pausing for refreshment at fountains in Irvington, nibbling lawns in Little Flower, and window-shopping along East 10th St. He adeptly eluded capture, and police were notified to be on the lookout for him, issuing an APB (All Peacock Bulletin) for the east side.
Frank continued to head west and angled south, heading into the Twin Aire neighborhood. Someone called him in, and Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) took the peacock into custody on May 29.
It is thought that Frank was lonely and looking for love in all the wrong places. After his stray hold was up at IACS, and no one claimed him, IACS released him to Olivia’s Oinking Acres, where a lovely peahen named Rhyme also resides.
Olivia’s Oinking Acres is a nonprofit farm rescue and sanctuary run by a 17-year-old young lady in Brownsburg. They are planning on building an aviary so Frank and Rhyme can live happily ever after.
