Getting Help

• All essential city and state services will continue as before. There is no disruption in trash service, public safety, and other vital functions. Only use 911 in a life-threatening emergency: fire, medical, or serious crime. Public transportation remains available in Indianapolis. Indianapolis International Airport remains open for all essential travel, though restaurants and bars have suspended dine-in services. Some flights have been cancelled; check with the airline for updates. The JW Marriott and Indianapolis Marriott have suspended operations.
• Essential businesses remain open, including grocery stores, pharmacies, fuel stations, banks, hospitals, and many others. Financial institutions have closed their lobbies, but the ATMs and drive-thru services remain available. Individual banks and credit unions have different policies in place for urgent needs; call them directly for questions or services.
• Churches, mosques, and temples are asked to close for in-person services, and offer live-streaming services instead.
• The Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) Military Family Relief Fund (MFRF) coronavirus emergency application is available at in.gov/dva and will provide undisrupted assistance to veterans and their families during this National Emergency COVID-19 crisis. • For assistance in Marion County with vital services, call 211. The have increased the number of people answering phones. They have resources for food pantries and other essential service agencies for people of all ages.
• Residents and affected workers impacted by COVID-19 restrictions should visit the city’s resource guide, which can be viewed at indy.gov/covid. Individuals who are unable to navigate the city’s website can call 317-327-4MAC between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to talk to a customer service representative.
• The City of Southport has instituted a collaboration with Perry Senior Services to help seniors in the city with food and doctor’s services. They are also assisting seniors with pet supplies. Services include rides to doctor appointments, prescription drug pickup, grocery store runs, and other essential help. Call 317-783-9231 for the Southport Senior Services.
•  Hancock County Courts have suspended all criminal and civil jury trials through May 4. Greenfield city offices are closed to public access, and are being staffed by essential personnel. Citizens are encouraged to call the agencies directly, or visit the Web site www.greenfield.org
• Food banks have seen a surge in need, and many have altered their services to limit direct staff contact.  St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry, at 3001 E. 30th Street, has moved their pantry to drive-through service with new hours Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Those who come will receive a variety of food including nutritious fresh items as well.
Irvington Community Advocacy Network (ICAN) Food Pantry is open on Thursdays, from 1-3 for grab-and-go needs at 111 S. Downey.
New Direction Church food pantry is offering a drive-thru food on Saturdays from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. to your car. The church is located at 38th and Hawthorne.
Healthy Harvest Market, 2828 E. 10th St., is offering children and seniors fresh produce and groceries, as well as hot take-away meals, while supplies last. Hours are posted on the door. If you can, please help support this vital new market in the midst of a food desert by shopping with them as well. They are also offering a Produce Pack Donation so that you can purchase food for seniors and children for only $10.
Community Food Box Project provides free community food boxes at several locations. The eastside boxes include Rock of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 10302 E. 38th St.; Bread of Life Church, 725 E. 27th St.; Amber Woods Apartments, 10119 John Marshall Dr.; Emerson Ave. Church, 308 N. Emerson Ave.; Praise and Worship Church, 4102 E. 10th St.; Jerusalem Temple Apostolic, 2125 E. 54th St. Other food boxes are available in front of Paramount School of Excellence on Nowland near Brookside. Please, only take what you need, and if you can, donate nonperishables in the boxes.
Westminster, 2325 E. New York St. offers a drive-thru pantry on Mondays from 9 a.m.-noon.
