Colts Win a VERY Close One

Coming off their biggest win of the season against the Texans, the Colts were looking at what seemed to be a fairly easy win against  the Denver Broncos. The Broncos were suffering through a disappointing season and had just traded away one of their top players, wideout Emmanuel Sanders. However, nothing is easy in the NFL and on any given Sunday. The Colts were in for a rude awakening. The Broncs came ready to play, the Colts not so much.
The Bronco defense out-hit the Colt offensive line and closed down the Horseshoe running game. Jacoby Brissett just could not get the deep passing game going and Adam Vinatieri missed on a 45 yard field goal attempt and an extra point. Defensively the Colts pass rush was minimal and defensive tackle Denico Autry left the game with a leg injury. With two rookies starting in the defensive backfield for the Horseshoe you known Bronco quarterback Joe Flacco was going to test it. Rookie cornerback Rock Ya-Sin was Flacco’s primary target. The second round pick  from Temple has shown aggressiveness when playing and this worked against us as he was called for several pass interference calls and an unnecessary roughness penalty. He also simply got beat on several plays, a sign of his inexperience.
The Bronco offense was ineffective in the red zone and in the end this is what cost Denver the game. Flacco questioned his offensive coordinators play, and several people questioned Flacco’s play execution. Flacco had a neck injury at the end of the game. Vinatieri redeemed himself by kicking the game-winning 51 yard field goal with 22 seconds left on the clock. So the Colts got away with the win, bringing their record to 5-2. The boys in blue go to Pittsburgh and Heinz Field to take on the Steelers this coming Sunday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.

Big Red Goes to a Bowl Game

By beating the Nebraska Cornhuskers 38-31 last Saturday, Tom Allen’s 2019 Hoosier football squad has qualified to play in a post-season bowl game that is yet to be determined. IU has a 5-3 record overall and a 3-3 Big Ten record. Northwestern, Michigan, and Purdue are still left on the schedule. Congratulations to coach Tom Allen and his Big Red Fighting Hoosiers.
